So, Win7RC wasn’t playing nice and finding appropriate drivers for the hardware on an older PC I put win7 onto.
Did the following to get them installed…
Download ‘LiveDrvPack.exe’….you should be able to get it off the Creative site, else, search for the file name.
This file is meant to search your system hardware to figure out what card you have installed. It then will install the appropriate driver from the huge set that it unpacks into a temp folder on your computer.
However, with win7, it probably won’t figure out what hardware you have–and it will even tell you that you DON’T have any hardware installed.
So, the trick is to let it unpack all of the drivers (you might be able to accomplish the same thing by extracting with a program like 7zip) and then having windows look in that temp directory when updating drivers from Device Manager.
It installed the necessary drivers for me.
After that’s done, you can close the Creative installation program and it’ll clean up all the temporary files/drivers.
